 I remember when this little girl started CrossFit about a year ago and she used to cry during every WOD. She wouldn't stop in the middle of the WOD because she was crying, she would just keep going and always came back with her mom and her dad. Well, this little girl has blossomed into this gorgeous teenager and she's going strong! Hayley, we are all so proud of you! Keep up the great work!

 

1. Name: Hayley Grace Bender

 

2. Do you have a nickname?

My brothers call me Sissy and my Dad calls me Priness.  Priness is a family joke because one year on my birthday cake the store spelled princess wrong.

 

3. How old are you? 

I am 12 years old.  I will turn 13 in August

 

4. How long have you been "CrossFitting"?

I have been crossfitting for about a year.

 

5. Why did you start taking classes and why CrossFit Inland Valley?

I started crossfit because I gave up competitive swimming to pursue the arts and my parents said I needed to do something active twice a week.  My parents go to CFIV so I thought I would try it.

 

6. Are you going to school?

I am going into the 8th grade this August. I am on student council where I am a treasure for our ASB.

 

7. Do you play sports?

I do not play sports anymore.  I do take tap class, guitar and theater

 

8. What's your favorite WOD?

My favorite WOD is the half MURPH I did on Memorial day.  My goal is to complete the full MURPH next year.

 

9. What’s your most feared WOD?

My most feared WOD is the Badger

 

10. Do you have a favorite movement or lift?

My favorite lift is the deadlift.  My one rep max is 100lb

 

11. What do you like to do on your time off?

On my time off I love being on stage doing musicals, playing guitar, writing songs and of course hanging out with my friends.

 

12. Do you have any advice for a teenager starting CrossFit?

Advice I would give to teenagers is to never give up and don't focus on what others are doing. Concentrate on your own goals and how you are progressing.

 

13. What’s your fitness goal?

My fitness goal is to stay healthy and get stronger.

 

14. What kind of music do you like to hear while doing a good WOD?

My favorite kind of music is showtunes, Tori Kelly, Johnny cash, and the beach boys.  I love to listen to air one too ( contemporary Christian music)

 

15. Would you like to add anything else?

My experience at CFIV has been wonderful.  I have learned so much and have become stronger.  Thank you for selecting me, it is such an honor!
