SARAH BRIGGS

She is "The Briggs Rock" the "Mama Bird"! Sarah has been "CrossFitting" since Feb/2016. I remember when she used to walk in just to watch the boys working out. She used to say she was a runner and would not do CrossFit because she didn't like the barbell. Well, I'm proud to say that after bugging her for months, she finally tried a class and got hooked! Well, Sarah, I TOLD YOU SO! HAHAHA I knew she would get addicted!

Do you have a nickname?

Mama Bird (but only by the boys), Briggsy (but only at work)

Tell us a little about yourself: Occupation, Hobbies, Family…

I work eastern time zone in a pretty stressful job where I get to positively impact negative situations. I don't really make as much time for hobbies as I should but I love to run and I'm currently training for my 4th marathon coming up in November. My family is pretty much my whole world and being a wife and a mother are truly the best part of my life. We also have 4 miniature dachshunds who think I'm the most amazing person in the whole world!

When did you start “CrossFitting”?

February 2016

Did you play any sports or did you workout before you started CrossFit?

I run on an almost daily basis.

Why CrossFit Inland Valley?

I started working out here because Rob and Colin were already here working out and I was injured and unable to run. Initially the plan was to just challenge myself while I was recovering but I found amazing friends and an incredible support system.

What makes you come back?

I come back because I love the feeling of pushing myself further and becoming stronger while spending quality time with my family and our friends. And when I skip a class or two, people come find me so I have to keep coming back!!

What’s your favorite WOD or movement?

My favorite WODs usually anything that involves running.

What’s your least favorite WOD or movement?

I am traumatized by Box Jumps after failing one and ending up with a pretty serious infection. I am doing my best to get passed it but it's a slow process.

What’s your most recent PR and what’s your main goal?

My most recent PR was a 90 pound clean. My main goal is to get a pull-up.

What do you have to say to someone thinking about trying CrossFit for the first time?

I would say that even though the atmosphere can feel intimidating at first and it might sound like people are speaking a different language, if you give it a chance, you will be surprised that the people are immediately welcoming and the atmosphere incredibly supportive.

What’s your favorite kind of music for a workout?

I could care less, as long as it isn't Anthony's playlist.
